Sanderumgaards Romantic Garden
Sanderumgaard is a manor on Funen, located 12 km south-east of Odense, between the villages of Fraugde and Davinde.
Sanderumgaard is run as a traditional farm and forestry holding, with a total area of 2225 acres.
The manor’s lands are in the municipalities of Odense and Kerteminde.
A garden was awakened from its deep slumber and the dreams of Susanne and Erik Vind were fulfilled when they opened the Romantic Garden at Sanderumgaard in May 2010, with the help of Queen Magarethe.
The Romantic Garden Sanderumgaard can be explored on your own or as part of a guided tour.
Exploring by yourself:

We start in the Manor Stables, where Susanne or Erik Vind lead you back through the garden’s nearly 200-year history. From Johan Bülow, the founder of the garden and Lord Chamberlain to Frederik VI, we will gain a glimpse of the bringing up, education, career and fall of a young aristocrat, as well as his thoughts and ideals regarding the creation of the Romantic Garden at Sanderumgaard.
You will learn about Susanne and Erik Vind’s huge re-establishment project and their new interpretation of the old garden, and the thoughts, ideas and ideals they had about the project. You will also hear about the fascinating historical source material that formed the basis of the restoration of the garden, and you will be shown a presentation with many fabulous photographs and illustrations.
You can wander around the garden and enjoy it at your leisure. The tour ends in the rose and herb garden, where you will be served a cup of coffee or tea and layer cake in the Manor Stables or in the rose garden.
The shop is open for you to buy exciting, high quality arts and crafts: porcelain, books, posters, postcards, clothing, the manor’s own honey, local cherry delicacies and much, much more.
